24/6/07 Thought for the month changes title - now 'Pause for thought'. Sorry but I'm not great at getting the updates done regularly enough to make it monthly!

16/4/07 Aprils Thought - As Peacemakers we should be seeking 't'sedaka'. This is one of the Jewish words translated for justice. Martin Buber, a famous Jewish scholar, translates this word as 'to bring the truth, to be truthful, to speak the truth'. Jim Consedine, New Zealand Lawyer and RJ proponent states "Justice is very much related to a way of life, a personal commitment of lifestyle, not just an academic theory. A person who lives t'sedeka seeks to live justly and to bring justice eventually to all. Oh what a great calling we have. Peacemaker can you bring t'sedaka into your church?

13/03/07 Marchs thought - Is the Church grieving the Holy Spirit by it's failure to act as it should? 'Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. Ephesians 4v32-5v2'Let's do what we should - Act like Christ and start by forgiving others as we have been forgiven

07/02/07 Februarys thought - Peacemakers aren't just gentle and mild - they have to bring discipline. As it says in 2 Timothy 4:2 "Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction." So Peacemaker don't ignore harm but bring the light of God into the dark areas of the church.

02/01/07 - Thought for the year - How does a Peacemaker live? Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out or your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus Philippians 2:3-5. May 2007 be the year in which you shine the light of God's peace on those around you. May God bless all the peacemakers in the year to come.

20/11/06 - Novembers thought - Need encouragement to be a peacemaker in the church? We urge you bretheren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone. See that no-one repays another with evil for evil, but alwaysseek after that which is good fro one another and for all people 1 Thess 5v14-15. Don't hesitate - Be the peacemaker you are called to be.

12/10/06 - Octobers thought - Does this describe the state of the church today?: 'For from the least to the greatest everyone is greedy for gain. From the prophet to the priest everyone deals falsely. They heal the brokeness of my people superficially saying "Peace, peace" but there is no peace' Jeremiah 6v13-14. Isn't it time we did something about it?
